Thousand Herbs and Vegetable Garden
After almost nine years of working together, this co-operative of nine women now operates adjacent to the Manyangana High School in Utah. For the past four years they have been renting a portion of land from the school where they grow quality herbs, vegetables and edible flowers that are sold to local game lodges, a couple of retailers and to their immediate community.
Manyangana High School
We support this high school by giving monthly contributions to help cover their electricity bill as well as to help pay for their security guards. We also from time to time help facilitate a variety of programs/donations for the students, for example:
Hananani Primary School
We primarily support this primary school through the growth of their vegetable and herb garden, we also give monthly contributions that go directly to their electricity bill. We have helped set up their computer lab and cover their monthly Wifi bill and we have helped with building renovations.
Hananani Permaculture Project
Hananani Permaculture Project is a garden we helped create in February 2014. It is based at Hananani Primary School in Dixie, the closest village to the Sabi Sand (North) Game Reserve. The garden’s primary purpose is to grow and supply vegetables to the school kitchen, which is responsible for providing each of the 180 young primary school children with a balanced, nutritious meal during school every day.
Hlokomela is a well-run, established project close to Hoedspruit, under the able management of Christine du Preez and her passionate team. The primary objective of Hlokomela is to take care of and treat farm workers with HIV/Aids and TB related illnesses while at the same time providing shelter to the children of these workers while their parents are being treated.
